Timothy E. Foster, Q.C.

Tim graduated from Trinity Western College in 1984 and University of Victoria Law School in 1987. He articled in Calgary and has been practicing Criminal Law since 1988. Tim has been counsel in many high profile cases throughout Western Canada, including numerous murder cases and successful insanity defences.


During the first 10 years of his practice, Tim became one of the top youth lawyers in Alberta, but with the advent of the Public Defender’s Youth Office, the focus of his practice for the last 19 years has shifted almost exclusively to impaired driving defence. Tim is qualified to operate all of the breath testing devices used in Alberta. He is an acknowledged expert in the area of impaired driving and has presented numerous seminars on impaired driving to other lawyers and police officers. 

To date, Tim has successfully defended over 4,000 impaired driving cases and has served as counsel in numerous precedent setting cases in impaired driving law.
